Helicopter fights Rhigos and Wattsville mountain blazes

bbcA fire-fighting helicopter has been called out twice in an afternoon to tackle mountain blazes in the south Wales valleys.

The helicopter dropped up to a tonne of water at a time on a 12-hectare (30 acre) blaze on Rhigos Mountain in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

It was later called to a blaze over up to 40 hectares (100 acres) in pine forest at Wattsville, Caerphilly.

Smoke from the blaze was seen up to five miles away.
