Hiller helicopter used in “James Bond” will be featured in another movie

A historic piece of James Bond memorabilia will be delivered to its latest film project by a Holme-on-Spalding Moor recycling and haulage company.

hillerIt’s usually Q who looks after James Bond’s Gadgets, but not this time with Allensway entrusted with delivering the Hiller helicopter to the set of a new film in Italy 3,000 miles away.

The oddjob is a little out of the ordinary for Allensway who usually use their low loading machinery to transport forklift trucks and tractors.

Providing the helicopter is not too shaken or stirred, it will feature in a new Guy Ritchie film called ‘The Man From Uncle’ based on the 1960s TV show and featuring Hugh Grant, Armie Hammer (Lone Ranger) and Jared Harris (Man of Steel).

Allen Williamson Managing Director of Allensway is keen for the Hiller, which appeared in Goldfinger, to Fly another day.

“It is a 3,000 mile journey and it’s going to be a challenge getting it that distance and negotiating the Italian toll roads, but we’ve got all the licences and permits for moving a helicopter.” he said.

“We don’t usually move things like this so I see it as a once in a lifetime opportunity and you never know what it could lead to.

“There are two locations they are filming at with the helicopter. We’re taking it to Naples on Sunday and they are doing a film set there. Then we’re taking it to somewhere in Rome.

“We’re all fans of James Bond, we’ve grown up with it so we’re very excited about being involved.”

Allen said the unusual job came about after pilot and friend Bob Hields, who will fly the helicopter in the new film asked him if he could transport it.
